Aeroparque Jorge Newbery is small enough to walk end to end. It sits on the Costanera in Palermo, about 2km north-west of downtown Buenos Aires, and it is run by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, the company behind most of the country’s airports. It was built inside the city in 1947. Ezeiza, further out, took the long-haul side once it opened.

AEP carried 17.7 million passengers in 2025, the busiest total of any airport in Argentina. Most of that is domestic. Aerolíneas Argentinas and JetSMART Argentina fly from here to cities across the country. The rest is regional: flights to Montevideo, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre and Asunción, split between Aerolíneas Argentinas, Gol, LATAM Brasil and Paranair.

Aeroparque does not handle long-haul international flights. Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia all land at Ezeiza instead. Think of the two airports as two halves of one job: one for a quick hop to another Argentine city or a neighbouring country, the other for everywhere further away.

Getting from Aeroparque to Buenos Aires city centre

A car is the simplest option, and the short distance means it rarely competes with anything else. Taxis and ride-hailing apps such as Uber, Cabify and DiDi work normally at AEP. They are the fastest way into San Telmo, Recoleta or Palermo itself. Public transport connects the two directly. Bus line 8 runs between Aeroparque and Ezeiza without a change. It is the cheapest way to make the trip, and also the slowest, at well over two hours door to door.

If your day has an international arrival at Ezeiza and a domestic flight out of Aeroparque, or the other way round, treat that transfer as its own booking with its own timing. Do not fold it into the gap between two flight times printed on separate tickets.
